3. San Antonio Spurs take Brandon Miller
Miller made his case to be the number two pick with a strong freshman season at the University of Alabama. The 6’9 forward has nearly a seven-foot wingspan, and he has scouts drooling over his potential.
Miller averaged 18.8 points, 8.2 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 0.9 steals, and 0.9 blocks in 32. 6 minutes per game in his lone college season. He shot 43.0 percent from the field and 38.4 percent on his 3-point attempts. He profiles as an elite scorer that can play on or off the ball. His size and versatility have some preferring him for the number two pick over Henderson.
The 6’9 forward has a slight frame that will keep him from defending well inside early on. He must add some mass to be able to play the four and small ball five. Without it, Miller’s versatility and ability to switch will be slightly limited, but he still profiles as a plus defender with All-NBA potential.
The San Antonio Spurs are in the middle of a total rebuild, and they will select the best player available. Miller gives them a versatile forward with superstar upside. Can the Spurs help him reach his ceiling and become an elite two-way player in the NBA? It would be fascinating to watch.
