5. Olivier-Maxence Prosper

Entering his rookie season with the Mavericks, Olivier-Maxence Prosper was expected to have a role in the rotation right away. There was tons of hype surrounding him as he had the intangibles to be a great 3-and-D wing in the NBA, but his rookie season didn't live up to the sky-high expectations that fans had for him.

Prosper appeared in 40 games and averaged 3.0 points and 2.0 rebounds per game while shooting 38.5 percent from the field and 28.9 percent from downtown, and it was clear early on that he may not be ready for a big role.

He spent some time in the G League and looked tremendous, and now it could be the perfect time for him to take the next step in his career and become a consistent role player. He expects to have a bigger role this season, and starting off on the right foot will be huge for him.

Jason Kidd allowed him to play big minutes in the preseason and even start, and if Kidd does decide for him to join the rotation, he has to make the most of his minutes and doesn't have much room for error.

The Mavs are thin at power forward, but even then, Prosper still didn't play a ton last year. He is going to have to show off an improved feel for the game and jump shot if he wants to be a reliable rotation piece for Kidd, and he could have the chance to do that early on.

Prosper playing out of control was a weakness of his during his rookie year, and him improving in that area and letting the game come to him will be essential for him to take that next step. Kidd believes in him, and Prosper's hard work over the summer could end up making him a regular in the rotation if he can be consistent.

If not, then he could be near the end of the bench.
