Dallas Mavericks crack top 10 in first power rankings of 2021-2022 season

The Dallas Mavericks were knocked out in the first round of the playoffs by the LA Clippers. Superstar Luka Doncic was unstoppable, but LA had too much firepower. The Clippers survived losing three times on their home floor to take the series. The Mavs will be looking to improve their roster this offseason to take another step forward in 2022.

Dallas has already made important front office changes this offseason. Donnie Nelson is out as president of basketball operations and general manager with former Nike executive Nico Harrison filling his role. Head coach Rick Carlisle resigned and was replaced by Hall of Fame point guard Jason Kidd. Two key pillars of building the Mavericks 2011 championship roster are gone as Dallas looks to usher in a new era.

Sites are already releasing their first power rankings of the 2021-2022 season. The Mavs check-in tenth in ESPN’s opening set. They were also tenth in Bleacher Report’s. Dallas is on the fringe of the top ten before the roster movement begins.

There is a ton still to be determined. The offseason transactions will pick up quickly The draft is set to take place on July 29 with free agency opening on Aug. 2. Fans should expect plenty of player movement and shake-ups to these rankings in the weeks ahead.

The Dallas Mavericks are not happy sitting tenth. They want to jump into title contention this season. Expect them to be active and aggressive this summer in hopes of reaching that goal.
