Dallas Mavericks should sign free agent Richaun Holmes this offseason

Richaun Holmes is the player the Mavericks need to sign if the Cleveland trade becomes a reality.  He averaged 14.2 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks per game in 61 games for the Sacramento Kings in 2020-2021.

Holmes is an elite pick and roll player that pairs nicely with Luka Doncic. The only knock against him is that at 6’10, he is slightly undersized.

Holmes protects the rim and holds his own in the paint. He brings energy and intensity every time he steps foot on the court that is difficult for other teams to match. His motor is non-stop, and Holmes enjoys doing the dirty work in all aspects of his game. Putting this young 27-year-old center around Doncic would be quite the combo for the years to follow.

It has been rumored that Richaun Holmes is seeking a contract in the ballpark of four years $80 million. If Dallas was to give him just that, they could have a starting lineup of Luka, Collin Sexton, Dorian Finney-Smith, Kevin Love, and Richaun Holmes with about $20 million left to spend to round out their roster. Adding a few veteran would make the Dallas Mavericks title contenders in 2022 and beyond.
