The Dallas Mavericks have four players playing in the Olympic Qualifying tournaments across the world. Luka Doncic is leading Slovenia. Boban Marjanovic and Nicolo Melli are both starting for their countries. Dwight Powell takes center stage for Canada as each team looks to make their way to the Olympics in July.

Powell energized Canada in their win over Greece on Tuesday. He had 12 points and seven boards in their Olympic Qualifying opener where Canada is the host. They will be looking to build on that performance to win the tournament and advance to Tokyo.

Powell and his country were back on action on June 30 against China. Canada dominated the action on Wednesday evening as DP narrowly missed a double-double. Here is a closer look at his performance.

Powell started for the second straight game. He had four points and two rebounds in his first stint on the floor. Canada had an eight-point lead after the opening quarter.

They exploded for 32 points in the second quarter and were showcasing some outstanding ball movement. DP had eight points, six rebounds, and one block after 20 minutes with Canada up by 13. See the Mavs big man get up for a slam below.

The Canadians dominated the action on Wednesday as they picked up the 109-79 win. Powell finished with 12 points, nine rebounds, three assists, one steal, and one block in 20.8 minutes of action. He was five of seven from the field and brought some outstanding energy to Canada squad. The talent group remains the favorites to advance to the Olympics.

Canada won both of their games in Group A. They will be back in action on Saturday as they face the second-place team from Group B. Dwight Powell and his nation need to win two straight games to advance to Tokyo. Stay tuned to see if they can punch their ticket this weekend.
