Dallas Mavericks best coaching replacement for Rick Carlisle: 1. Jamahl Mosley

Mosley has a fantastic relationship with Luka Doncic. Fans can see them working out on the floor together before games and conversing during timeouts. That alone has the 42-year-old in the pole position to take over the reins as the Mavericks head coach.

Mosley has been with the Mavs since 2014. He had stints with the Denver Nuggets and Cleveland Cavaliers before coming to Dallas. Mosley has been working in the NBA since 2005, but this would be his first head coaching gig. He did replace Rick Carlisle for one game in New York after Rick was placed in the health and safety protocols. Following that contest, Luka had this to say about Mosley, courtesy of Tim MacMahon.

Jamahl Mosley has earned the chance to be a head coach in the NBA, but there will be plenty of pressure if takes over the Mavericks. Dallas wants to win now. They are expected to make significant roster upgrades this offseason as the organization tries to push its way into title contention. Having a rookie head coach could slow that process slightly.
