Kristaps Porzingis trade the Dallas Mavericks could pull off: 1. Unicorn to Boston

Kemba Walker reportedly wants out of Boston. The Mavs were interested in signing him when he was a free agent in 2019. There has already been plenty of talk about the two teams making a swap of former All-Stars.

The Mavericks should look to get Marcus Smart added into the deal. They need to improve their perimeter defense if they are going to make a serious run. Adding both guards gives them some additional playmaking ability, while also leaving them with enough defense. Smart is willing to guard anyone and has made two All-Defensive teams.

Dallas would have to give up a first-round pick and additional salary to acquire Marcus Smart. Dwight Powell makes the math works out. He was drafted by the Celtics and gives them a rim roller to complement Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown.

Boston would need to add a starting point guard if they trade both Kemba and Smart. It appears they will attempt to bring back soon-to-be free agent Evan Fournier. They could add a veteran placeholder with Tatum and Brown doing the majority of the creating.
