Dallas Mavericks free-agent target to watch in playoffs: 2. Nicolas Batum

Nicolas Batum is having a career resurgence for the LA Clippers. Coach Tyronn Lue shifted him back into the starting lineup in Game 4 of their first-round series against the Mavericks. Batum played a key role in the Clippers advancing to face the Jazz. He gave them another wing that could handle the ball, make plays, and play solid defense.

Batum would be a fantastic fit in Dallas. The 6’8 forward will guard any player on the court and is comfortable playing any role. The Mavs need that versatility to make a deep playoff run.

The Hornets bought Nicolas Batum out of his contract before the season. He latched on with the LA Clippers on a one-year deal. The veteran forward will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason and looking for another payday. He played his way into more than a veteran minimum contract. Will LA be willing to go deeper into the luxury tax to keep him?

Expect the Dallas Mavericks to be interested in Batum. His ability to showcase multiple skills is just what the team needs as it looks to take the next step. Will the feeling be mutual? It is a story to watch this offseason.
