Dallas Mavericks free-agent target to watch in playoffs: 4. Reggie Jackson

Jackson was one of the keys to the LA Clippers topping the Mavs in seven games in the first round. He averaged 15.4 points and 3.1 3-pointers made on 39.3 percent shooting from long range against Dallas. The Clippers needed him as their third scorer and floor spacer as they went small.

Jackson was a massive piece in LA leading the league in 3-point percentage this season. He shot 43.3 percent from distance during the regular season. The 31-year-old can start or come off the bench and is a capable secondary or tertiary playmaker. Jackson does not bring the defense Dallas is searching for, but he would be a fantastic fit next to Luka Doncic in the backcourt on the offensive end of the floor.

Jackson made just $2.3 million this season but has played his way into a raise. The Clippers already have $148 million in salary committed and four free agents to decide on. They could choose against a hefty luxury tax bill and let Reggie Jackson walk.

How much would the Dallas Mavericks be willing to pay for the 31-year-old? They will have their mid-level and bi-annual exceptions to use even if they bring back Tim Hardaway Jr., which leaves the door open to sign a veteran guard like Jackson.
