Dallas Mavericks: 5 free agent targets to watch in second round of playoffs

Dallas Mavericks free-agent target to watch in playoffs: 5. Mike Conley
Mike Conley made his first All-Star team in 2021 and is one of the top free agents on the market this summer. He will be joined by veteran point guards Kyle Lowry, Dennis Schroder, and potentially Chris Paul (if he declines his player option). If Dallas is searching for a star, the decision comes down to one of the point guards or DeMar DeRozan.
Conley enters free agency following an outstanding season. The Jazz had the best regular-season record in the league as he averaged 16.2 points, 6.0 assists, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.2 steals in 29.4 minutes per game. Conley shot 44.4 percent from the field and 41.2 percent on his threes. The 33-year-old shared the backcourt with Donovan Mitchell in Utah.
He would likely have no issues as the secondary ball-handler in Dallas next to Luka Doncic.
The 33-year-old point guard is dealing with a hamstring injury and his status for the series against the LA Clippers is uncertain after missing Game 1. Conley being on the court is a massive factor in which team advances to the Western Conference Finals.
The Dallas Mavericks will have to choose between chasing Mike Conley or re-signing Tim Hardaway Jr. The front office appears set to choose THJ, but things change quickly in the NBA.
