Should the Dallas Mavericks trade Kristaps Porzingis this offseason?

The Mavs should not trade Porzingis this offseason. They would be selling low on the talented big man. Dallas would likely have to attach additional assets or take back a negative contract to move KP. That is a tough sell when trading a 25-year-old that has shown he can be a fantastic fit next to Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic.

All trades come down to the return. If Dallas can acquire Bradley Beal, Damian Lillard, or another superstar, moving off Kristaps Porzingis becomes a no-brainer. If they need to swap KP for Kemba Walker or another albatross contract, that moves makes little sense. Stick with the younger Porzingis because he is more likely to reach his peak.

Yes, the Dallas Mavericks are likely regretting handing Kristaps Porzingis a max contract, but the deal is signed. They now have to maximize his value to jump into title contention. Doing so will be no easy task.

It will be interesting to see how coach Rick Carlisle gets him more involved on both ends of the floor. Do not count out a career year from Kristaps Porzingis in 2021-2022. The team knows they have to get him going to reach their goals.
