Unassuming player that makes Dallas Mavericks playoff threat: 5. Tim Hardaway Jr.

Hardaway Jr. may not qualify for this list. He is a second-generation NBA player. Hardaway Sr. was a five-time All-Star and has his number retired by the Miami Heat. THJ averaged over 19 points per game for the Knicks before the 2019 trade that brought him to Dallas. Many people know the name Tim Hardaway and expect a significant amount.

Hardaway Jr. has exceeded all those expectations recently. Over his last six games, he averaged 27.0 points and 5.3 3-pointers made on 55.9 percent shooting from the field and 52.5 percent on his 3-point tries. THJ cannot miss over that stretch as Dallas has gone undefeated. He sat out against the Kings in their lone loss in the last seven games.

Luka Doncic creates a ton of open threes. When the Mavs are connecting, they are difficult to defeat. This season when Hardaway Jr. shoots over 40 percent from 3-point range, Dallas is 20-11.

The 6’5 wing has picked up the scoring with Kristaps Porzingis on the sidelines too. It has been just what the Mavericks needed during their current winning streak as they battle to avoid the play-in tournament.

The Dallas Mavericks must have Tim Hardaway Jr. shooting well and scoring if they want to win in the playoffs. The 29-year-old staying white-hot would make them a postseason threat to any team.
