Dallas Mavericks free agent target to watch the rest of the season: 5. Norman Powell

Powell is in the midst of his best season as the 27-year-old continues to improve. He was averaging over 19 points per game during his time in Toronto before being traded to Portland at the deadline. The Trail Blazers would love to keep Powell, but they will have to go into the luxury tax to do so.

Powell could be an upgrade on Tim Hardaway Jr. in Dallas. The 27-year-old has shot 49.2 percent from the field and 41.6 percent on his 3-point tries over the last three seasons. He would be the Mavs’ third scorer and give them a 6’3 wing capable of playing with any unit.

Powell is not the perfect fit for Dallas. He is averaging a career-high 1.8 assists per game this season. The 27-year-old is not known as a lockdown defender either.

Powell would give the Mavericks another big-time scorer that can shoot the lights out. Fans have seen what elite floor spacers can do playing next to Luka Doncic. The Mavericks superstar could help Powell take his game to another level.

Signing Norman Powell could allow the Dallas Mavericks to add multiple pieces with their cap space. They have to choose between signing a third star or multiple role players to improve their roster this summer.
