Dallas Mavericks grade going into All-Star break: Luka Doncic

Luka has been the one consistent bright spot for the Mavs. He missed only two games in the first half of the season. The 22-year-old averaged 28.6 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 9.0 assists per game. Some could view those numbers as a bit of a letdown because they expected him to average a triple-double per game, but Doncic has been incredible.

The 22-year-old superstar added some new tricks. He is attacking the mid-range when left uncovered. Luka has increased his defensive intensity and polish this season. Mavs fans have loved seeing him incorporate the Dirk Nowitzki one-legged fade away too.

First-half grade for Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic: B+

His counting stats are down slightly as the Mavs performed below expectations. Doncic has been outstanding, but his main goal is winning games. Dallas surprisingly sits eighth in the Western Conference at the All-Star break, which knocks their star player’s grade down a bit.

Luka’s outstanding play would have earned an A-plus, but he will have to settle for a B-plus for his first-half performance. It will not be long before Luka Doncic is the best player in the NBA. Expect him to keep improving as the season progresses.
