Luka Doncic makes history in Dallas Mavericks win over Pelicans

It was a noteworthy night for the 21-year-old superstar. He set a new career-high in points scored with 46. Luka’s previous mark was 42, which he accomplished three times. The 21-year-old became the eighth Maverick to score 45-plus points in a game too.

Doncic also made NBA history. He became the fourth-fastest in terms of games played to reach 4,000 career points. Only Michael Jordan and Shaquille O’Neal did it in fewer than Luka’s 159 contests. Never a bad night to be mentioned in the conversation with two Hall of Famers.

Doncic also scored 25 or more points in his 13th consecutive game which tied a Mavericks franchise record. Both Dirk Nowitzki and Mark Aguirre accomplished the feat with Dallas. Not bad for a 21-year-old in his third NBA season.

Luka Doncic will have a chance to set the mark on Sunday as the Portland Trail Blazers visit the American Airlines Center. The Dallas Mavericks will be searching for their fifth straight win as they continue their seven-game homestand.
