Why Dallas Mavericks should trade for Zach LaVine: 4. Floor spacer
The Mavs produced the highest offensive rating in NBA history last season. Luka Doncic led their attack. His ability to get into the paint and find open shooters made Dallas a nightmare matchup. The departure of Seth Curry plus players missing from the lineup has left the Mavericks lacking floor spacing as they sit 21st in the NBA in offensive rating after 21 games.
Zach LaVine would give the Mavs an elite 3-point shooter to add to their lineup. Over the last three seasons combined, he has connected on 38.4 percent of his 963 attempts from long range. Those figures include a ton of difficult pull ups as the Bulls’ number one option too.
For his career, LaVine has connected on 41.1 percent of his 819 catch and shoot 3-point attempts. He has also hit 42.4 percent of his 648 career wide open threes as classified by NBA Stats. There may be no better player in the league at creating wide-open catch and shoot 3-pointers for his teammates than Luka Doncic.
Zach LaVine would solve the Dallas Mavericks floor spacing issues. He would give the team a 3-point shooter that defenses would have to respect, which opens the paint for Doncic to thrive.
