Luka Doncic leads Dallas Mavericks to victory over Hawks
Doncic put his passing on display in the third quarter. Tim Hardaway Jr. caught fire as the Mavericks scored 35 points and pushed their lead to five after three. Luka had 23 points, six rebounds, eight assists, and two steals heading into the final quarter.
Coach Rick Carlisle shifted the Mavs rotation against the Hawks. He did not stagger Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis as much. Both players returned with 9:31 left in the fourth and Dallas up by eight. They went to work and pushed the lead to 15 with less than four minutes remaining in the game. Luka found a cutting KP for a beautiful dunk.
The Hawks made an incredible late push, but the Mavericks fended them off for their ninth win of the season. Luka Doncic finished with 27 points, eight rebounds, 14 assists, two steals and one block in 38 minutes of action. He was perfect on his ten free throw attempts as Doncic narrowly missed his seventh triple-double of the season.
It was the first of a back-to-back set for the Mavs. They return home to face the Golden State Warriors on Thursday night. Expect another monster performance from Doncic, but the Dubs will have the rest advantage on Feb. 4. Do not miss what promises to be an exciting contest.
