Should Dallas Mavericks fans be worried about Kristaps Porzingis: 3. Jumper

KP is 16 of 56 from 3-point range so far. Diving into the numbers further, he is four of six on corner threes, and 12 of 49 from above the break. That may not be the issue, though. On jump shots, Porzingis is 36 of 102 through nine games. Last season, the 25-year-old took a larger percentage of his field-goal attempts as jumpers and only connected at 36.6 percent.

KP is eight of 25 when left wide open per NBA Stats, including six of 23 from 3-point range. Last season, he took 174 3-pointers classified in that category and hit them at 40.2 percent. Porzingis is getting wide open at relatively the same rate, just the shots are not falling at the moment.

Fans should not be worried here. Small sample size and lack of rhythm are the culprits for his poor shooting numbers. Remember, Kristaps Porzingis missed all of training camp. He went nearly five months from his final game in the playoffs to his season opener on Jan. 13. The Unicorn is still shaking off the rust and finding his jumper. Expect the shots to start falling in short order.
