Dallas Mavericks: Examining the early 3-point struggles of Luka Doncic
By Tyler Watts

Should Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic’s 3-point struggles be a concern?
There should be absolutely no worry about his shooting. Luka may not take the step forward fans were hoping for, but he will be sinking 3-pointers at a significant clip in no time. Following his first ankle injury last season, Doncic shot 30.8 percent from 3-point range over his final 36 regular-season games. He still made first-team All-NBA and finished fourth in MVP voting. Expect him to shoot better this season.
The return of Kristaps Porzingis will help too. The Unicorn is a 7’3 sharpshooter that gives the Mavericks elite offense more space to operate. Everyone including Luka benefits from his presence on the floor.
Expect Doncic to set a new career-high in 3-point percentage this season. It has been a slow start, but fans can bet the 21-year-old superstar has been working on his jumper. It will pay over the length of the season. He may end up below where fans want him to be, but expect steady improvement in Luka’s shooting.

The turnaround could come quickly as will Luka Doncic’s first 40-point game of the season. It could be as soon as Wednesday’s home opener against the Charlotte Hornets.
