The Dallas Mavericks have won a lot of games over the last two decades. They went from a team that missed the playoffs for ten straight years to the model of winning consistency. Dirk Nowitzki led the way on the court, but owner Mark Cuban played a massive role.

Cuban purchased the Mavericks in 2000. Dallas has missed the playoff four times in his 20 seasons in charge. They are set up from another outstanding run with Luka Doncic leading the way. The 21-year-old is on pace to be an all-time great and make the Mavs an annual title contender for as long as he stays in Dallas.

Cuban is involved in basketball decisions but look at the team’s track record. He always spends to improve the roster. The Mavericks have had the same head coach for 12 years and the same GM since 2005. That consistency has led to a lot of wins including the 2011 championship. There have been some misses for the organization, but Cuban always opens his checkbook to make the Mavericks better.

His work during the pandemic has been incredible too. Cuban continues to pay stadium employees despite the Mavericks not being able to host fans at games. He has donated a ton of money to various causes. Cuban also is at the forefront of getting players involved in the community and giving back.

There have been bumps in the road during Mark Cuban’s tenure as owner of the Dallas Mavericks. The workplace culture problems brought to light in a 2018 Sports Illustrated investigation should not be forgotten or excused, but Cuban has led the Mavs to a lot of success on the court.

The NBA has a plethora of tremendous owners, but the Mavericks are lucky to have Mark Cuban. He is the best in the league. Cuban will continue to make Dallas a better place as he puts a winning basketball team on the floor. Hopefully, Luka Doncic can bring the Mavs their second championship soon. It will be awesome to see Mark Cuban holding the Larry O’Brien trophy again.
