How the Dallas Mavericks can get on Santa’s Nice List for 2021

The 2019-20 Mavs were overall a likable team unless you were on the receiving end of their historic offense. Santa won’t hold that against them since they were just showing up to work and doing their jobs.

The team is going all-in on standing up for themselves and making sure the rest of the league takes notice this season, so their behavior during said overhaul is critical in determining their placement on the naughty or nice list for next year.

Direct sources from the boss at the North Pole relayed his Dallas Mavericks checklist for getting on the nice list for 2021.

  1. Santa wants to see massive defensive improvement this season, particularly in late-game closeouts where the team struggled heavily last year.
  2. These sources tell me that recruiting a third star is fine by him, as long as it is done so within the NBA’s tampering rules.
  3. Santa demands that to be on the nice list for 2021, the Mavs must run up the score on the LA Clippers at any given opportunity. The direct quote was “Santa does not like bullies”. Make of that what you will.

Also, my sources told me that an NBA Championship back in Dallas will secure extra presents for every member of the staff and roster.

There isn’t a doubt in my mind that Saint Nick will be watching these Bad Boy Mavs closely. James Johnson, Josh Green, and Josh Richardson are going to be immediate protectors for Doncic, but they’ll have to maintain a good guy narrative if they want more presents under their tree in 2021. Standing up for your teammates and imposing a physical threat on the court has its perks and its cons.

The Dallas Mavericks have an NBA championship to win, but it’s safe to assume they will take these expectations from Santa seriously as well.
