Danilo Gallinari would add to the Dallas Mavericks: 3. Floor spacing

The Mavs built the NBA’s best offense by putting shooters around Luka Doncic. The 21-year-old superstar is one of the best pick and roll ball handlers. He can get to the rim at will forcing the defense into tough decisions. Helping on Luka creates a wide-open three, and he can always find his man.

Gallinari is one of the NBA’s best shooters. He shot 40.6 percent from 3-point range last season which was the 19th best percentage in the league among qualifiers. The 32-year-old connected on an outstanding 41.8 percent over his 340 catch and shoot threes.

Gallinari is a strong mid-range shooter too. The Mavs avoid that area, but it could be the key to improving their struggles late in close games. Letting the 6’10 forward attack in the mid-range gives the defense one more thing to guard.

Gallo is an unrestricted free agent and free to sign with any team. The Mavericks would love to add an elite floor spacer around Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis, which makes their offense more of a nightmare for opposing coaches. There would be no way to defend the Mavs. The improved spacing is far from the only thing Danilo Gallinari would bring to Dallas.
