4. Dallas Mavericks grab Kelly Oubre in four-team deal that gets Chris Paul to Phoenix

The four-team featuring the Mavs and Clippers could look like this.

Mavs receive: Kelly Oubre Jr.

Suns receive: Chris Paul

Clippers receive: Ricky Rubio

Thunder receive: Landry Shamet, Delon Wright, Justin Jackson, 18th overall pick in 2020, Suns future first, Clippers future second

NOTE: Clippers would have to renounce one or more of their cap holds on their current free agents. Maurice Harkless or Marcus Morris seem like the most likely options.

The Suns again give up Rubio, Oubre Jr., and a future first-round pick for CP3. The Thunder ship Oubre to Dallas for the 18th overall selection, Delon Wright, and Justin Jackson. The Mavericks get a strong defensive wing for a first-rounder and salary filler.

The change-up here is the Clippers coming in to grab Ricky Rubio. LA’s lack of ball-handling hurt them during the Walt Disney World restart. Here, they add one of the NBA’s best creators, but they sold all of their first-round picks to the Thunder already in the Paul George trade. That forces the Clippers to give up Landry Shamet and at least one future second-round draft choice.

The Thunder leave this move quite happy. They are sitting on the largest chest of draft picks already, but add three more here plus a strong young talent in Shamet.

What if the Mavericks are happy to make it a three-team deal by taking on both Oubre and Rubio?
