Dallas Mavericks: Resetting the depth chart heading into the offseason
The Dallas Mavericks leaped back into the playoffs this season. Luka Doncic became a superstar as he led the Mavs through a wild and unprecedented campaign. They were bounced in the first round of the playoff by the LA Clippers, but Dallas proved they belonged in the series.
The Mavericks have no designs of stopping here. Luka already let fans know the goal is to win the championship in 2021. It is a lofty target, but they are closer than most fans think. The Mavs have two stars and a solid cast of role players. They are just a few pieces away from a legit run at the title.
Expect the front office to make some moves this offseason in hopes of taking the next step. The Mavericks will tread lightly because they can create enough cap room to add a third star in 2021. Adding some pieces on the margins could be key.

Before looking at who they should acquire, it is important to know where the Mavs stand right now. They have ten players under contract plus two that have player options for next season. Both are expected to be back (more on that to come). That leaves the Mavericks just three roster spots to add pieces. Fans will see that finding a defensive-minded wing will be their top priority.
Here is a look at where the Dallas Mavericks stand at every position heading into the 2020 offseason.
