Will the Dallas Mavericks trade for Myles Turner?

The short answer is no. Turner just does not fit what the Mavs are trying to build. They want floor spacing around Luka Doncic. That way he can attack the paint and kick to open teammates. Turner is an above league average shooter, but the Mavericks could get someone shooting 37 percent-plus instead. The 24-year-old does not excel as a roll man either.

Odds the Dallas Mavericks trade for Myles Turner this offseason: 0.5 percent

Never say never, right? This deal appears unlikely, though. The Mavs are going to set themselves up to improve in 2021 and chase the marquee free agent next offseason. Dallas is hoping they can land a third star and be in title contention for the next decade-plus. That will be easier said than done. Talent is going to want to play with Luka and KP, though.

Myles Turner eliminates them from chasing free agents and does not fit with what the front office is trying to build. That is no knock on him. Turner is a fantastic player with a bright future. Dallas is just not the team for him at this moment.
