Will the Dallas Mavericks bring back Michael Kidd-Gilchrist?

This was one of the most difficult questions to answer in this series. The team bringing back Trey Burke is a slam dunk after his play in Orlando. Even J.J. Barea returning seems likely given his long tenure with the team. Kidd-Gilchrist does not have either going in his favor.

The Mavs need for defense props up the odds of a reunion. They had the best offense in the NBA this season. There is no room for improvement there. Dallas must make the gains on the defensive end of the floor. That is where MKG shines.

Odds the Dallas Mavericks re-sign Michael Kidd-Gilchrist: 50 percent

Call it a true coin flip at this juncture. The market will determine his fate. If the Mavs can find a better fit willing to play on a minimum deal, they are going to make the upgrade. Kidd-Gilchrist could get more money or a long-term deal in free agency. The Mavericks are unlikely to offer either. The market will be the deciding factor.
