Dallas Mavericks takeaway from Game 3 loss to Clippers: 5. 3-point shooting

The Mavs struggled to hit 3-pointers in the first half. They were four of 19 including missing multiple open looks. It was a massive reasons why they trailed by 14 points at halftime.

Luka Doncic struggled with his shot. He did not take a field goal after the injury. He was just four of 14 beforehand, including just one of six from 3-point range.

Maxi Kleber and Dorian Finney-Smith struggled mightily. Both missed multiple open looks. They were a combined one of nine for the game. The Mavs need both players to make open triples to space the floor.

Seth Curry and Kristaps Porzingis saved the Mavericks 3-point shooting on Friday evening. Both players got hot from long range to keep Dallas in the game. The Mavs finished 17 of 43 from 3-point territory, thanks in large part to nine makes from Curry and KP combined.

The Dallas Mavericks will need to stay hot from long range if they are going to have a chance at the upset. That gets amplified if Luka Doncic cannot play in game four. Their 3-point shooting will be something to monitor going forward.
