Dallas Mavericks: Why the team should sign Montrezl Harrell this offseason

Why Dallas Mavericks should sign Montrezl Harrell: 1. Scoring
The Mavs are going to need a capable third scorer especially if Tim Hardaway Jr. opts out and signs elsewhere. Adding Harrell fills that role in a different way. The current Clippers big man is averaging 18.6 points in 27.8 minutes per game this season. He is shooting 58.0 percent from the field and has attempted just 18 3-pointers all year.
Harrell is going to attack the basket and score. 91.5 percent of his field goal attempts came within ten feet of the rim this season. He has connected on over 70 percent of his tries within three feet in each of his five NBA seasons.
Adding Harrell gives the Mavericks another vertical spacer. No team would be able to stop the Doncic and Harrell pick and roll. He is comfortable playing in the high 20s in minutes meaning there is still plenty of run for Kristaps Porzingis and Maxi Kleber.
Harrell would be Dwight Powell’s insurance. The current Mavericks big man is recovering from a torn Achilles. There are no guarantees that he is healthy at the start of next season. The injury could cost him some burst too. Harrell gives Dallas another option in case Powell is not ready.
