Dallas Mavericks depth chart heading into Orlando: Point guard

Starter: Luka Doncic

Reserve options: J.J. Barea, Trey Burke, Delon Wright

Injured: Jalen Brunson

Mavs superstar Luka Doncic is the unquestioned starter here. The 21-year gets out of the blocks quickly. Could he average a 30-point triple-double per game during the eight seeding contests? Remember, he did it over 14 games in the month of November. Fans can read why Luka will be the NBA’s best player in Orlando here.

Expect Doncic to start out playing a bit over 30 minutes per game. He will ramp up from there. Luka will be ready to play as many minutes as necessary in the playoffs.

Expect the three healthy backups to all see playing time. Barea, Burke, and Wright should all be part of the Mavericks ten-man rotation to begin the proceedings in Orlando. Dallas is going to go small. That means three-guard lineups.

Wright has played just seven percent of his minutes at the one this season. That trend will continue during NBA Disney as he slips into a role on the wing.

The backup point guard battle between Barea and Burke is the key one to watch during training camp 2.0. Which player will coach Carlisle prefer when Doncic needs a rest in the playoffs? Barea likely has the inside track at the point guard. The two will play minutes together in Orlando too.
