How Kevin Durant’s injury impacts Dallas Mavericks: Nets vs. West

The Nets taking on other Western Conference teams could have a massive impact on the Mavericks. Every regular season game in Orlando could alter their seed because the Western Conference is so tightly packed.

The Clippers sit second right now just 1.5 games up on the Nuggets. Behind them is the Utah Jazz. They are 1.5 games back of Denver. The Rockets and Thunder are just one game behind the Jazz. Then, Dallas is 1.5 games back of those two teams. The difference between the second and seventh seeds is 5.5 games.

Going off the Nets remaining schedule, they would play the Clippers twice, Sacramento, and Portland in Orlando. LA would be heavy favorites in both meetings. That is a plus for Dallas. The Mavericks are hoping to move up in the standing to avoid facing the Clippers in the first round. The defense of Kawhi Leonard, Paul George, and Patrick Beverley has the best shot of slowing Luka Doncic down in Orlando.

Fans will miss Kevin Durant during the season’s conclusion. There was hope he would play and begin to knock off the rust as he tries to lead Brooklyn to a championship. Instead, that will have to wait until next season. Hopefully, KD makes it back fully healthy and goes off in 2020-2021.
