Dallas Mavericks: Best players at each position in the last decade
By Chad Sanchez
Power forward: Dirk Nowitzki
There was no question that this spot belonged to Dirk Nowitzki. He is the greatest Maverick of all-time. The legend scored 31,560 points in his 21-year career. He also revolutionized the game with his shooting ability.
Dirk was deadly from everywhere on the floor. For his career, he shot 38.3 percent on his threes, over 47 percent from ten feet to the 3-point line, and 64.5 percent from zero to three feet. Nowitzki was one of the NBA’s toughest covers for nearly two decades.
The Mavericks GOAT when through a few growing pains in his first two seasons. Then, he averaged over 20 points per game for 12 consecutive seasons. Dirk cemented his status as an all-time great by bringing the championship to Dallas. He currently sits sixth on the all-time scoring list too.
Dirk Nowitzki is the only player in NBA history to play 21 seasons with one team. He never left Dallas. Nowitzki did not chase a ring or depart for additional money in free agency. He even gave the Mavs a few discounts to build a better squad around him.
Dirk is the greatest Maverick of all-time and a no-brainer for the starring role in the team’s starting five of the 2010s.
Honorable Mention: Brandan Wright
