1. Luka’s shooting

The biggest knocks on Luka Doncic as a rookie where his shooting percentages and turnovers. He hit just 42.7 percent from the field and 71.3 percent of his free throws. That included 3.4 turnovers per game which worried Dallas Mavericks supporters.

The turnovers have increased in year two, but there are fewer complaints. Doncic is dominating the ball and running the show. His turnovers are few and far between despite averaging 4.2 per game.

The shooting percentage increases have pushed him into All-Star starter status. He is connecting on 46.5 percent from the field and 76.5 percent of his free throws. Luka is attacking the basket more this season. That means additional shots in close and an increase in his field goal percentage. It also allows for more free throw attempts.

The worry is that Doncic has cooled off since injuring his ankle the first time. Over his last 19 games, Luka is shooting 44.7 percent from the field and 71.3 percent on his free throws.

The Mavs need him to keep his efficiency up to continue as the NBA’s best offense to close out the season. The injuries may be playing a role here. Expect the 20-year-old star to continue lighting it up after the break.
