Grizzlies add to young core as Heat push all-in

The Miami Heat won the sweepstakes for Andre Iguodala. They acquired him, Jae Crowder, and Solomon Hill for Justise Winslow, Dion Waiters, and James Johnson. The Heat are clearly pushing all-in to try to win the East. Iguodala and Crowder figure to slot directly into their rotation. Both could be factors in the playoffs.

It will be interesting to see how long it takes Iguodala to ramp up. He has not played at all this season as he was waiting to be traded. Expect it to take time before he is firing on all cylinders.

The young Grizzlies decided to flip James Johnson for Gorgui Dieng. Dieng gives them a backup center that can create havoc on the inside. Memphis currently sits eighth in the Western Conference. They opened up more minutes for Dillon Brooks, D’Anthony Melton, and Kyle Anderson by trading away Crowder.

Chris Haynes reported the Grizzlies will buyout Waiters. It will be interesting to see if he latches on with another team.

The Mavericks have one regular season game remaining against both teams. The Heat certainly improved, and the Grizzlies have a young exciting core. Both teams will be difficult matchups for Dallas down the stretch.
