Wolves grab second All-Star building block

The Minnesota Timberwolves were one of the most active teams at the trade deadline. They traded wing Andrew Wiggins and two draft picks for D’Angelo Russell, Jacob Evans, and Omari Spellman. The Wolves coveted Russell as the ideal building block to pair with Karl-Anthony Towns.

Minnesota was also part of the Covington for Capela deal. They traded away Jordan Bell, Keita Bates-Diop, Shabazz Napier, and Noah Vonleh to receive Malik Beasley, Juan Hernangomez, Jarred Vanderbilt.

The Timberwolves completely reshaped their roster. They are 10.5 games out of the eighth seed in the Western Conference heading into action on Feb. 7. Minnesota is a young team that is hoping to continue to improve over the next couple of years. Towns and Russell are both 24 plus they plan on the 23-year-old Beasley being a significant part of their future. Jarrett Culver also has immense potential.

The Wolves are a team to watch the rest of the way. The pick and roll pairing of Towns and Russell could be a nightmare to defend. The Dallas Mavericks have three games against Minnesota remaining. They will get to see up close how dangerous this newly constructed T’Wolves team can be.
