Dallas Mavericks rumors are running wild right now. Marc Stein noted what they are looking to acquire as we head into the trade deadline on Feb. 6.

The Dallas Mavericks are currently fifth in the Western Conference, but they are a hot ten-game stretch from having home court in the first round. Second and sixth are separated by 3.5 games heading into Friday’s action.

The Mavs have a playoff spot all but secured. Luka Doncic continues to rise and play at an MVP level in his second season. They need to keep Kristaps Porzingis healthy. He is fresh off missing ten games with a knee injury. KP not being on the court is one of the biggest concerns for the Mavericks going forward.

The rumor mill produced another one on Thursday. Here is a look at the latest.

Mavs targets at the deadline

Marc Stein sent out the following tweet about what the front office is searching for before Feb. 6.

The Mavericks need to bring in a big man. It will be interesting to see if they go the trade or free agent route. The front office would like to add more scoring, and their trade assets are limited. The Mavs could bring in a center capable of playing reserve minutes and commit to playing small ball in their starting unit.

Dallas has been linked to a plethora of players already. From Robert Covington to Danilo Gallinari to Andre Drummond, they have been actively working the phones early on. It will be interesting to see what the front office can pull off before Feb. 6. Remember, nobody saw the Kristaps Porzingis trade coming last year. Expect the Mavs to make some moves before it is too late.

Keep an eye on the buyout market too. The Mavericks will be interested in adding veterans that could help them in the playoffs. They are a young team that could use some experience.

The Smoking Cuban will have all the Dallas Mavericks trade rumors plus opinions and analysis on the team, so make it a daily stop leading into the deadline.
