Historic night
It was another history-making evening for Luka Doncic, but this time not so much what he did on the court. His 27 points, six rebounds, and nine assists were impressive. Fans are used to those lines now. Doncic does those things ever game. The Mavericks star made history before the action got underway.
He was voted in as a starter for the 2020 NBA All-Star game. Luka narrowly lost the fan vote to LeBron James to be the captain of a team. The Mavs PR sent out the following tweet announcing him as a starter.
#Mavericks guard Luka Dončić has been named a starter in the 2020 NBA All-Star Game.

The 20-year-old will become the youngest European-born player to start an All-Star Game and joins Dirk Nowitzki (2007, 2010) and Jason Kidd (1996) as the only Mavericks to do so. pic.twitter.com/e8dTtAI9Zb
20-year-old’s do not make the All-Star team. According to Mavs PR, he will be the ninth youngest player to ever play in one on Feb. 16. Doncic will also be the youngest starter since LeBron in 2005.
Luka is incredibly deserving of the honor. He topped the NBA’s leading scorer James Harden in the voting among fans, players, and media. Doncic always put up incredible stat lines, but his flare matters too. It is fun watching him ball. The kind that fans cannot take their eyes off.
Expect Luka to put on a show in Chicago. Dallas Mavericks supporters can look forward to seeing which team selects Doncic. Will it be Team LeBron playing with his idol? Or Team Giannis to form the international duo? Stay tuned.
