3. Rebounding

Coming into the season, many thought the Dallas Mavericks would struggle on the glass. That has not been the case, though. The Mavs are fourth in the NBA in rebounding averaging 47.6 per game. Luka is currently 17th in boards per game. Porzingis is averaging over nine a night for the first time in his career which has helped push Dallas up the list.

The rebounding behind their big two has been by committee, though. Powell, Kleber, and Finney-Smith are all averaging between five and six rebounds per game. They are the next three highest Mavericks in the category.

How the Mavs can acquire Andre Drummond before the deadline. Also

Robert Covington has always been a strong rebounder for a combo forward. He is averaging 5.9 a game this season. He had two seasons in Philadelphia at over 6.3 per. RoCo would be taking minutes from Jackson, Kleber, Powell, and Finney-Smith meaning the Mavs’ rebounding would improve. They could push past the Clippers and Nets and into the top two in the league.

The addition of Covington would also lighten the load of Luka Doncic slightly. The Mavericks star grabs nearly ten rebounds a game which takes a toll. Coach Carlisle continues to try to find ways to keep Doncic fresh for the stretch run. Adding Covington and letting him crash the glass could be just another way to save Luka a bit.
