Dallas Mavericks fans know the team loves to run pick and rolls. That play provided plenty of alley-oops during the 2018-2019 season. See the highlights here.

The Dallas Mavericks were in the top ten in pick and roll percentage last season. They also scored the 11th most points per game in the league off that play type. Coach Carlisle runs plenty of pick and rolls, and Mavs star Luka Doncic excels as the ball handler.

The pick and roll did not just provide plenty of points last season. It brought supporters a plethora of highlight plays too.

Here is a look at the Dallas Mavericks top pick and roll alley-oops from the 2018-2019 season.

Only improves

The Mavericks success on pick and roll plays will increase with the addition of Kristaps Porzingis. The 7’3 big man is a skilled roll man. His ability to hit jumpers opens up the defense more. During the 2017-2018 season, Porzingis produced a number of alley-oops off the pick and roll like the one below.

Luka handling the ball and running off Porzingis screens could become one of the most efficient plays in the NBA this season. The two young stars will need some time to develop chemistry, but both are too skilled for it not to produce. Mavs fans should be excited about the possibilities.

That all goes without mentioning Dwight Powell. He was on the receiving end of plenty of last season’s highlights. Powell is penciled in as the starting center this fall. He should play more than his 21.6 minutes per game from last year. That means more lobs and dunks for one of the NBA’s most efficient scorers.
