Dallas Mavericks: How to watch Mavs vs. Timberwolves
By Kohl Rast
The Dallas Mavericks take on the Minnesota Timberwolves tonight in the first round of the winners bracket for the NBA 2019 Summer League. The Mavs earned the 6-seed, taking on the 3-seed Timberwolves.
The Dallas Mavericks fought their way through some stiff competition in this year’s NBA Summer League and came out on the other end with a respectable 3-1 record. Thanks to the tiebreaker determined by those in charge of the summer league, the Mavs found themselves in the top 8 teams along with Boston, Detroit, Minnesota, New Orleans, Brooklyn, Miami and Memphis.
Dallas has already improved from their time in the summer league last year, where they came out as the 9-seed. This team has been completely different with new talent and a new coach and it has been a very entertaining squad.
This could be the last chance these players have to impress the NBA scouts and the teams with roster spots to fill still.
Start time
The Mavs have a late evening tipoff on July 13th. The broadcast begins at 10:30 p.m. ET or 9:30 central. Dallas is considered the away team as the lower seed. The game will be held at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
How to watch
Monday’s contest is nationally broadcast on NBA TV and will also be available on ESPN2.
How to watch online
Fans can watch online via Watch ESPN or the ESPN app. They can also view through NBA.com.
Storyline to follow: Cameron Payne
Cameron Payne has been the most valuable player for the Mavericks so far this summer and was badly missed in the game against Croatia. If Payne is unable to play again for any reason, the Mavericks are going to be hurting for a ball handler and playmaker big time.
If Payne does go, the Timberwolves could be in danger. He has been an offensive powerhouse so far and the rest of the Mavs lineup has been great on the defensive end, creating a more balanced attack for the team.
The Mavs will have a chance to move on to the semifinals of the summer league if they win tonight. A win would have them face-off against the winner between the Pistons and the Nets. That game will be played at 7:30 central time.
