5 Areas the Dallas Mavericks need to improve in this offseason
By Sean Bush
Perimeter Shooting
Rick Carlisle did his best to get his team to run a modern offense last season. The Mavericks finished the season 4th in three point attempts and 7th in makes. Luka Doncic made this offense possible with his ability to collapse a defense and find open teammates on the perimeter.
Unfortunately for Carlisle and Doncic, the talent wasn’t there to convert the looks. Dallas finished 27th in 3PT% and 28th in FG%. Obviously, Kristaps Porzingis is an addition who will be of huge help in these areas. However, the team still needs to add more shooters to this roster.
Bringing in a few more marksmen will help to space the floor and open driving lanes for Doncic and other playmakers on the team. Doncic will continue to set up teammates for easy looks, he just needs a few more guys around him who can knock em down.
