2019 NBA Draft: Winners and losers of the draft
By Kohl Rast
Winner and Loser: Bol Bol
Bol Bol had a rough night at the NBA Draft, but he also had a very successful draft, making it impossible to assign him to just one category. Bol was selected with the 44th overall pick in the draft by the Miami Heat, but was subsequently traded to the Denver Nuggets.
Bol went into the draft considered by many to be a lottery pick due simply to his freakish measurements and skills on the court. Sadly, that did not pan out and Bol was left as the only man left in the green room for several picks. Most of this is due to injury concerns, which must be more severe than fans were led to believe.
Bol’s long wait was painful and disappointing, but the team that drafted him could utilize him perfectly going forward. Denver does not have a traditional big man because of Nikola Jokic, so plugging a non-traditional power forward could be good for the team as well.
Bol will also get the chance to grow and learn under one of the greats in the league. This can only help.
The only other thing that Bol was either a winner or a loser on was with his suit. I was not a fan personally, but I know many who really liked it.
The Dallas Mavericks were somewhere in the middle of the biggest winners and the biggest losers, but things are looking up for the team already. Maybe Isaiah Roby is just the piece the team needs this year.
