The Ringer – Isaiah Roby

The Ringer has been around for several years and has a lot of really solid writers and reporters with the site. Their 2019 NBA Mock Draft has the Mavs taking Roby as well. This is the only player in the mock drafts that I have seen that was picked multiple times for Dallas. This could be a good pick or could be bad, based on his position in other mock drafts.

Some people have Roby as a higher level option with a borderline late first round selection on the table. Others don’t have him being picked until into the 50’s. That is telling of this draft class in itself with a huge group around the mid-first round all the way into the mid-second round.

Roby has a lot of upside and I would be good with Dallas taking him for that reason. His defense would be a welcome sight, but the team really does need to add some shooting and this pick would definitely not do that right away.

NBC Sports – Darius Bazley

You can always count on mock drafts from major sports sites like NBC Sports. In this case, NBC decided the Mavs would go with Darius Bazley with the 37th overall pick. Bazley would be a good selection for Dallas as he is projected to go higher than 37 in most mock drafts out there.

Bazley is a big forward that did not actually play college ball. This is probably the biggest knock to the young forward as it is very unclear on if he is going to be NBA ready or not. His skill set is strong and he has shown great signs of being a solid all-around player, but he could falter to the pressures of the NBA.

Overall, Bazley would be a good project for the Mavs but I don’t expect him to be available at this point.
