NBA Draft: 2019 Mock 2.0: If the Dallas Mavericks land in top 4
By Kohl Rast
Duke’s third and final star that has entered the draft comes not too far back from the other two at the 7th overall pick. Some say this is too high for Reddish while others say it is too low, but I think this fits him just right. Reddish was the number three guy for Duke who was led by Zion and R.J. Barrett in most games this season.
The Washington Wizards really just want a guy that can add some flashy play next to Bradley Beal going forward and hope people just kind of forget how much money the team is paying John Wall to sit all next year. If there is one name left on the draft board that will bring fans to the games on name recognition alone, it would have to be Cam Reddish.
Reddish is obviously best known for his shooting prowess. He came into the NCAA as a guy that was ready to knock down shots at a moments notice, and for the most part that is what he was tasked to do. He also proved to be a quality defender for the Blue Devils, pairing him next to an amazing defender in Zion Williamson already.
Reddish is also the epitome of a streaky shooter, going from some games where he led the team to others where he was nearly nonexistent. His shooting will have to gain some consistency if he is going to be a star of any kind in the NBA down the road.
Player Comparison: Gordon Hayward
Reddish is a tough one to get an NBA comparison on, but I went with Gordon Hayward because they both are good at creating their own shots but neither have proven that they can be consistent with that task. Reddish is likely a better defender than Hayward, but Gordon is going to be the better ball handler and point man when needed.
