Nowitzki is playing better too. Since the All-Star Break, he is averaging 8.9 points, 4.0 rebounds, 1.4 3-pointers made, and 1.0 assist per game in 19.4 minutes a night. Dirk appears to be moving better and enjoying his time on the court.
Dirk Nowitzki produced a season first on Friday against the Memphis Grizzlies. The legend started the game on the first possession with a two-handed dunk. Fans can enjoy it here courtesy of the Mavericks official Twitter account.
The dunk was a rarity for Nowitzki in recent seasons. That was just his fourth dunk in the last three years according to Bobby Karalla. It was a fantastic moment for the legend, though.
Friday marked the Mavericks next to last home game of the season. They host the Phoenix Suns on April 9. The Mavs will be celebrating Dirk that entire evening, so fans are not going to want to miss it. Tuesday will be a special day for every Mavericks supporter.
Final thoughts
Dallas Mavericks icon Dirk Nowitzki threw down a monster dunk on the Grizzlies. It was one of his best highlights of the season. The legend continues to make Mavs fans smile every time he takes the court.
The debate about Nowitzki’s return next season will rage on until he makes a definitive announcement likely this summer. Fans want him to return, but the legend remains undecided. It would be a blast to usher in the Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis era in Dallas with Dirk playing a bench role. The GOAT can still get buckets and help the team.
