Dunk Contest

Dennis Smith Jr.

“Former Mav Dennis Smith Jr. will get revenge for last year’s dunk contest, when he was robbed despite having some of the best dunks of the night. No one else from this year’s list of participants jumps off the page at me. John Collins might provide some competition, because big men can do some unique dunks at times, but Smith is the clear favorite.” –Ben Zajdel

“Dennis Smith Jr. was robbed of his rightful dunk contest title last year and it will not happen again. DSJ is the kind of guy who will take that snub personally and I expect him to come out with something special. I’m predicting two perfect scores from Smith Jr. and at least one dunk that we’ll be talking about for years to come. I wonder if Dennis has his buddy Luka toss him a lob to bring down the house.” –Sean Bush

“I honestly felt like he was snubbed from a win last year since his through the legs 360 dunk opened so many mouths in surprise. Miles Bridges has had multiple highlight worthy dunks this season. I would expect it to come down to the wire between these two with DSJ coming out as the champion. He just has the hops.” –Arsal Hussain

“DSJ will be competing in his 2nd Dunk Contest this year, and has an edge on his inexperienced opponents. I expect him to return with a vengeance due to last year’s robbery and for him to pull out some crowd-awing dunks.” –Badees Nouiouat

“I trust that Dennis Smith Jr. will go all out to impress the hometown crowd. As athletically-gifted as Smith Jr. is, getting to compete in the Slam Dunk Contest in front of friends and family can only elevate his competitiveness. His only real competition may be Charlotte’s Miles Bridges who is a ferocious dunker, and is competing at home as well. In the end, I believe DSJ will pull a trick out his bag to close out the contest.” –Manny Dixon

Miles Bridges

“As the lone dissenting vote, it is my duty to at least clarify that I am rooting for and hoping that Dennis Smith Jr. wins the Dunk Contest. That said, Miles Bridges has insane bounce and great showmanship. With DSJ the clear favorite for the title, someone is going to have to come out of the shadows. I think Bridges is that guy.” –Kohl Rast
