Dallas Mavericks: The Dallas sports youth movement peaks with the Mavs

Been too busy with life to process old shots and practicing new techniques for some new takes on old things (not flickr worthy yet). I'm also learning some new gear I bought. So here is one from the summer series. Enjoy. And thank you for looking.

Dallas Mavericks: Luka Doncic, Dennis Smith Jr., Jalen Brunson

The youth movement for the Mavericks has a couple players that could do really well, but it really starts with one guy in particular. The rookie sensation that has caught the eye of the media is better than advertised and, if you didn’t know which guy to look for, would probably make you believe that he is a seasoned veteran.

Aside from him, the Mavs have also done well with some other draft picks over the past couple years. One of them has been talked about a lot lately as a potential trade piece, but that does not mean that the kid can’t play some serious ball. I don’t expect to see him traded, I think he will be back in the good graces of Mavs fans soon.

Luka Doncic (19) is heavily favored for the Rookie of the Year award, a likely NBA All-Star game participant and someone who has completely surpassed even some of the loftiest expectations reported about him before the season started. He is currently averaging just a shade under 20 points per game and has become one of the most entertaining players in the league. Luka Doncic has arrived and is undoubtedly the face of the Mavs franchise going forward.

Dennis Smith Jr. (21) was the Mavs rookie from the 2017 draft and, before Luka came along, was viewed as a great draft steal for the Mavs considering he was selected 9th overall. His athleticism and tenacity are great tools for the rest of his career, but he still has plenty more development to go. He can be a great piece for the Mavs if they hold on to him.

Jalen Brunson (22) is another rookie from the 2018 draft class. He was a winning machine all throughout college and is hoping to carry that attitude into the NBA. Although he has fallen in and out of the good graces of Coach Carlisle, Brunson still represents a young guard who can help shape this team after Devin Harris and J.J. Barea are gone.

Next. Three New Year's resolutions for the Dallas Mavericks

The Dallas youth movement isn’t done yet and probably won’t be done any time soon, but all four DFW teams have already made important strides towards the future of their respective teams. And for now, most of these teams are really fun to watch.
