Dallas Mavericks: The Dallas sports youth movement peaks with the Mavs

Been too busy with life to process old shots and practicing new techniques for some new takes on old things (not flickr worthy yet). I'm also learning some new gear I bought. So here is one from the summer series. Enjoy. And thank you for looking.

Dallas Stars: Miro Heiskanen, Julius Honka, Valeri Nichuskin

The Dallas Stars aren’t looking too bad so far this year, currently sitting at sixth in the Western Conference and third in their division. Over the last couple years, the Stars have probably been the most impressive Dallas team, making it to the 2nd round of the playoffs in 2015-16 before struggling the next year and falling out of the playoffs at the end of the season last year.

The Stars are showing some depth with the team this year and some youngsters have been key contributors along the way. Although I am not entirely sure who the team has in the feeder system, the guys that are already in the big leagues have been excellent. Here are just a few of them.

Miro Hesikanen (19) was drafted by the Dallas Stars in 2017 and was taken with the third overall pick. He has been an important part of the team so far this year, scoring 9 goals and dishing out 11 assists so far on the season, good for 5th on the team in total points so far this year. The Stars found a solid player in Heiskanen, who looks to be a key part of the team going forward.

Valeri Nichuskin (23) was drafted 10th overall in the 2013 NHL Draft and is in his 3rd professional season. Nichuskin scored 34 points in his rookie season, earning him 14 votes in the Rookie of the Year award voting. He has struggled producing at that high of a level since then, but he is still very young and has a bright future.

Devin Shore (24) was picked late in the 2nd round in 2012 and didn’t make his debut until late in 2015. His statistical rookie year of 2016-17 was solid with 33 points (13 goals, 20 assists). He also did well the next year with 32 points. It looks like the Stars found a diamond in the rough with Shore.
