3. Get Dirk back to the playoffs

This is a goal the Mavericks have had since the start of the season, but it needs to be a renewed effort for the start of 2019. Maybe the best part about this new-old resolution is that the Mavs still have a very real shot at making the playoffs this year. We have seen what they are capable of, we just need to see it on a more regular basis.

Even though he hasn’t said anything yet, most of us are pretty confident that this will be Dirk’s final season in the NBA. At 40 years old and in his 21st professional basketball season, Dirk is officially looking his age on the court for the first time in his career. The Mavericks have a duty to get Nowitzki back to the playoffs one more time if they can.

When it is all said and done, Dirk Nowitzki will have his name on the front cover of the Mavs record book. He has made his mark on the league and he has made a mark on the fans who have had the joy of watching him play. One more playoff run for the big German would be the best thing that could happen for this team in 2019.

Next. Dallas Mavericks: Luka near top of All-Star voting

The Dallas Mavericks have plenty of things to fix for the rest of this season and going into the next one. Luka is ready to take over as this team’s best player and the Mavs need to be ready to put the supporting cast around him. Everything else will fall in line and hopefully that will lead to a great final run for Dirk.
