Dallas Mavericks franchise double-double record

In the 1990-91 NBA season, Roy Tarpley led the season off with four consecutive double-doubles, averaging 24 points and 12.3 rebounds per contest. After only 11 minutes of playing time in game five, Tarpley would not play another minute in the NBA for the next three years.

That is a sad story from Mavs history, but it is a franchise record that has stood for almost 30 years. DeAndre Jordan is now looking to put his own name in the Mavs record books as he has also started this season with four consecutive double-doubles. With one more tonight, he will take the lead for most consecutive double-doubles to start a season for the Mavs franchise.

Jordan has been known for years as a double-double machine during his time with the Los Angeles Clippers. His career averages are just shy of a double-double, but the last 5 years have been very good for his numbers.

He has led the league in rebounding twice in his career, during the 2013-14 season and the 2014-15 season. Since then, he has never fallen outside of the top 2 in total rebounds, falling behind Andre Drummond in each of the past three seasons.

His scoring, on the other hand, isn’t quite as strong. Jordan only averages about 12 points per game over the past 5 seasons. That is crazy considering the fact that he has the best field goal percentage in NBA history and it isn’t particularly close. DJ is a great example of shooting only high percentage shots.
