News came out today that Dallas Mavericks forward, Harrison Barnes, will be out for an indefinite amount of time with a hamstring injury.
Disappointing news came out today via Rick Carlisle that Harrison Barnes has come down with an injury to his hamstring. The timetable for his return is indefinite at this time, but it appears likely that he will miss the entirety of preseason.
Obviously missing preseason isn’t going to hurt Barnes too much considering he is a key player and will not be looking for a roster spot, but this news could mean a lot for some of the players fighting for a spot.
The bigger news for Harrison Barnes himself is definitely the fact that he may not be fully ready for the start of the season. If that is the case, there could be some rust to shake off by the time he is ready to be back.
We have seen some crazy injuries that have lingered for some star players over the past few years, so don’t be surprised if Barnes does end up sitting out for the first part of the season. 100% is definitely the goal for the Mavs training staff and it is unlikely that they will risk anything less than that considering the level of hype surrounding this team.
The injury came during practice, according to Carlisle via Tim Cato, of The Athletic. Hamstrings can always be tricky because if you work it too much it will get worse but if you don’t work it enough it will weaken and be more difficult to rehab. Barnes will have to toe the line and be careful of any setbacks that could take place.
The Mavs preseason starts on Saturday when they take on Chinese professional team, the Beijing Ducks. The game will begin at 7:30 central time and will be played at the American Airlines Center.
